Counting Airplanes

A warm spring day; sun’s out, a light breeze blowing. The weather calls for a fun day outside, basking in the sun. Imagine sitting or lying in the grass, gazing up at the blue skies…while being a few feet away from airplanes in the sky – it’s amazing, speaking from experience! Gravelly Point Park, located in Arlington, Virginia, is exactly where one can enjoy a pleasant day watching planes as they take-off and land. This recreation spot is conveniently located a few miles away from downtown D.C. – allowing both local residents, as well as visiting tourists, to access the Park.

  3. The descriptive language in the beginning of the blog is amazing. It definitely pulls a reader in and makes them want to know more. I agree with Hayley, I felt like I was there!

A picture could have really improved the blog, and given a reference point for your awesome description. Overall, though, very nice work! I would love to visit this place!

  4. I like the vivid imagery in the beginning. Like everyone else, it made me feel like i was there, relaxing and being care-free.

I think you should have talked more about what you did there that made it so special besides watching airplanes fly by. Did your family go there with you? Did you bring your closest friends on summer days? Small things like that would have helped I think.

Overall, it was a great read and I hope one day to go there!

  5. I like your idea but I feel that your repition of the words sky and sun made it a bit choppy. You could throw is words like "flying through the atmosphere" and "laying in the sunlight".

    :)

The only thing I can think of for you to add to improve this is perhaps some history on the airport itself. Other than that great job!

  11. I feel like your blog placed the reader in the park with the strong descriptive words along with your personal experience of the park. I thought this was the strong part of this post.

If you could improve this, I would suggest adding a nice picture of the park to allow the reader to use the descriptive words along with the picture, so that they can imagine themselves there. Nice job!

  12. This is a very vivid description of the place that matters to you, and you managed to provide a lot of detail within a short assignment. I was kind of wondering about how culturally significant this place is for others though.

  13. I liked the picture that you painted in this blog! As I read it, I definitely felt like I was almost there, sounds really awesome and relaxing! I didn't really feel the cultural significance or community connection as much as a personal connection but sounds like a really cool place.
